Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation

From Staff Reports

A bomb threat forced the evacuation of the North Idaho College auditorium minutes before the start of a play promoting racial diversity, according to a police report.

The threat was called into police dispatchers Tuesday at 6:53 p.m. by a man described as in his 20s or early 30s. The play, titled “Faces of America,” was scheduled to start at 7.

Police searched the auditorium and did not find a bomb. Five members of the Aryan Nations, including Richard Butler, were questioned by police, but denied involvement.

The play began several minutes late. Butler and the four other Aryan Nations members were part of the audience.

Two officers patrolled outside the auditorium until the play ended.

Police traced the call to a pay phone at 620 Hubbard Ave.
