Business Group Promoting Airway Heights

About 35 business owners in Airway Heights are working together to promote the West Plains city and enhance its trade.

They are forming a new Airway Heights Business Association.

“People keep thinking we are some kind of little unimportant area here,” said Joyce Surina, one of the business people involved in the association.

Surina said the organization dates back a couple of years, when she and her husband, Matt, bought the bowling alley in Airway Heights.

They discovered that a lot of customers had questions about what kinds of products and services were available in this city of about 4,100.

Other business owners wanted an organization to encourage economic growth and monitor business practices.

The association will also work with city government to promote its goals, Surina said. The group is planning to file papers with the state to establish a corporation, she said.

Meetings are held each Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at Matt Surina’s Bowler’s World on U.S. Highway 2.
