Arthur Lee scored 17 points, including four 3-pointers in the second half, and No. 9 Stanford rebounded from consecutive losses to defeat California 74-72 Wednesday night in Oakland.

Tim Young had 17 points and 15 rebounds for Stanford (19-2, 8-2 Pac-10), which remained unbeaten in seven road games.

Kris Weems added 16 points, including four free throws over the last 26 seconds as Stanford, which lost consecutive home games to No. 4 Arizona and Arizona State last week, survived a season-high 21 turnovers to complete a season sweep of the Golden Bears (8-10, 4-6).

Paul Pierce scored 19 points, Lester Earl added 18 and the Jayhawks (25-3, 9-1 Big 12) finished strong after a sluggish stretch to beat the Cyclones (10-12, 3-6) in Ames, Iowa.

Kansas ensured itself of a ninth straight 25-win season and ran up its largest victory margin in Ames in 27 years.

At Baton Rouge, La., Wayne Turner’s basket with 2:37 to play was the Wildcats’ (20-3, 9-1 Southeastern Conference) final points of the game but they held on for the victory over the Tigers (9-11, 2-8).

At Columbus, Ohio, Jason Klein scored a career-high 25 points and the Spartans moved to their best Big Ten start, 9-1, with the win over the Buckeyes (7-14, 0-8).

The first-place Spartans are 16-4 overall.
