Man Robs Store, Ties Up Clerk

A clerk was left tied up after a Spokane Valley grocery store was robbed early Thursday, Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies found the clerk at 4:45 a.m. at Excell Foods, 14515 E. Trent. He was not injured.

The clerk told deputies a man confronted him with a gun in front of the store. He demanded the clerk open the store and its office, deputies said.

The man took an undisclosed amount of cash and the clerk’s keys to a gray 1992 Pontiac Transport van with tinted windows and Washington license plate 202ELH. He then tied the clerk up and fled in the van, deputies said.

The suspect is described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build, dark clothing and a bluish-red scarf over his face.

Anyone with information about this man should call Crime Check at 456-2233.
