Fund-Raiser Will Benefit Habitat For Humanity Project

By The Spokesman-Review

Opportunity Presbyterian Church will host a fund-raiser today for the Valley’s second Habitat for Humanity project.

The chili feed runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church, 202 N. Pines.

Opportunity Presbyterian is teaming up with Spokane Valley Baptist Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran Church, Millwood Community Presbyterian Church, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church to build one of four Habitat homes planned for a parcel of land near the intersection of Alki and Ella roads.

The Valley’s first Habitat home was completed in December of 1996.

Construction is expected to begin in March.

The churches have agreed to provide money and volunteer labor for the construction of the home. Each Habitat house costs approximately $50,000 to complete.

There is no set price for the chili feed, but all donations will benefit the Valley Habitat project.

More information about Habitat and the Valley projects will be available at the church.
