Man Who Met Girl On Chat Line Arrested After Alleged Attack

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 19-year-old Seattle man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl who said he attacked her after she met him on a telephone chat line and invited him to her home.

Kent police said criminal charges could be filed next week against the man, who turned himself in Friday night.

The girl told police she invited the man to her apartment on Tuesday after getting to know him on a “telephone teen party line.”

When he showed up, she said, he immediately attacked her - choking her, sodomizing her with an object and raping her twice.

The alleged attack prompted a warning about such chat lines from Kent police spokesman Paul Peterson.

“It’s just not a good way to meet people,” he said. “You have no idea who’s on the other line. … A person could be telling you anything and making everything up.”
