IN PASSING

Roger L. Stevens, the real estate magnate, legendary Broadway producer and bravura fund-raiser who enriched Washington’s cultural life by finding ways to create the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and by heading it for its first 17 years, died Monday at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington. He was 87 and lived in Washington.

Dr. Mary Catherine Raugust Howell, a pediatrician who championed medical careers and better health care for women and who was the first woman to become an associate dean at Harvard Medical School, died Thursday at her home in Watertown, Mass. She was 65.

The Rev. Thomas Kilgore Jr., a civil rights pioneer who helped organize the 1963 march on Washington and worked for peace after the 1992 Los Angeles riots, died Wednesday. He was 84.

Congress agreed Wednesday to rename Washington National Airport for Ronald Reagan.
