Jones Continuing Pursuit Of Coach

Compiled From Wire Services

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones met with Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Chan Gailey for about two hours Sunday morning regarding the Cowboys head coaching position and planned to meet with Gailey again over dinner.

Gailey is the fourth known candidate to interview for the job vacated by Barry Switzer last month.

Another candidate, former San Francisco 49ers coach George Seifert, says he is still waiting to hear whether he fits into Jones’ plans.

“I don’t know if I’m being considered or not,” Seifert said yesterday. “I figure when there is an appropriate time and Jerry has made his decision, he’ll let me know.”

Jones has not talked to Seifert or Terry Donahue since the middle of last week.

Jones said he will likely meet with the other known candidate, Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Sherman Lewis, today in Indianapolis and could still interview a college coach.
