Thomas Bachteler Naples, Idaho

Private family service for Thomas Joseph Bachteler, 84, was held. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bachteler, who was born in Wisconsin, died Tuesday.

He grew up in Wisconsin and worked on the family farm.

Mr. Bachteler worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and then as a trucker during World War II, hauling munitions to military bases.

He moved to Troy, Mont., in 1946 and hauled logs for the J. Neil Lumber Co. and also worked for the Forest Service in Noxon, Mont.

Mr. Bachteler had worked for various lumber mills in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California and Arkansas. He retired and settled in the Bonners Ferry area in 1973.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Thomas Bachteler of Montana and Eugene Bachteler of Florida; two daughters, Angeline of Arkansas and Phyllis of Rochester, Wash.; five stepsons, Jerry, Gary, Neal and Darrel Heigel, all of Bonners Ferry, and Jacob Heigel of Boise; two stepdaughters, Linda Fletcher and Evelyn Ringer, both of Bonners Ferry; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Bradshaw Wenatchee

Memorial service for Evelyn A. Bradshaw, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Church in Spokane. Telford’s Chapel of the Valley in Wenatchee is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bradshaw, who was born in Glendive, Mont., died Jan. 27.

She graduated in 1936 from Dawson County High School and in 1937 married Byrle Bradshaw in Glendive.

They resided there until 1943 when they moved to Terry, Mont.

Mr. and Mrs. Bradshaw moved to Riverton, Wyo., in 1949 and to Quincy, Wash., in 1952.

In Quincy, they owned Brad’s Cafe, and she worked as the cook and operator.

Her husband died in 1965. She moved to Spokane in 1967.

Mrs. Bradshaw worked as a budget analyst for the Soil Conservation District and retired in 1981.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Joseph’s Church in Spokane and Wenatchee.

Mrs. Bradshaw moved to Wenatchee in 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Brunson and Marilyn Jursnick, both of Wenatchee; a sister, Loraine Prettyman of Keizer, Ore.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Lenahan Spokane

Memorial Mass for Joseph E. Lenahan, 87, will be at 9:30 a.m. today at the Jesuit House Chapel. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lenahan, who was born in San Francisco, died Thursday.

He was a Spokane resident for 11 years and worked for Standard Oil Co. in California for 30 years in public relations.

Survivors include; a son, Barry Lenahan of Spokane; three daughters, Rosemary Leaver of Spokane, Kathleen Butler of San Jose, Calif., and Loretta Harry of Federal Way, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donald Porter Spokane

Service for Donald R. Porter, 60, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Porter, a resident of Spokane since 1986, died Feb. 1.

He was born in Anaconda, Mont., and studied for the ministry at McMinnville, Ore.

Mr. Porter was a servant of the Orthodox Church of God for many years and held the office of confessor of the faith.

His last ministry was at Aqua View Christian Fellowship in Spokane, where he was chaplain and pastor. Mr. Porter was also past secretary to the board of directors of Our Club in Spokane and was the evening security monitor for Booth Care Center.

Survivors include eight children; four stepchildren; four grandchildren and 12 stepgrandchildren.

Alexander LaCom Jr. Spokane

Memorial service for Alexander F. LaCom Jr., 76, was Saturday at Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mr. LaCom, who was born in Salt Lake City, died Thursday.

He served in the Air Force during World War II and served in the European Theater.

Mr. LaCom had worked in the radio and television industry since 1945 and had worked for KXLY in the radio and television advertising departments since 1955.

He was a member of the Central Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as an elder.

Mr. LaCom was also a volunteer for the Better Living Center and served as a member of the advisory board of the Salvation Army.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Geraldine; two sons, Richard LaCom of Spokane and Gary LaCom of Corinth, Miss.; a daughter, Kristi LaCom Chandler of Fircrest, Wash.; a brother, Richard LaCom of Yreka, Calif.; a sister, Virginia Jacobson of Orem, Utah; and five grandchildren.

Sister Rose Harrold, S.N.J.M. Spokane

Funeral Mass for Sister Rose Magdalen Harrold, S.N.J.M., 91, will be at 4:30 p.m. today at the Convent of the Holy Names chapel. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Harrold, who was born in Lewiston, N.Y., died Thursday.

She moved to Seattle in 1907 and entered the Sisters of the Holy Names at Marylhurst, Ore., in 1924.

Sister earned her bachelor’s degree in music at Marylhurst College and taught music in Spokane, Seattle, Everett, Portland, Uniontown, Wash., and Richland until 1980.

She retired to the Convent of the Holy Names in Spokane in 1983.

There are no surviving family members.

Elsie Weigelt Spokane

Graveside service for Elsie Eloise Weigelt, 90, was Friday at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Weigelt, a 45-year resident of Spokane, died Wednesday. She was born in New York.

Mrs. Weigelt graduated from Kettle Falls (Wash.) High School.

She worked for 30 years as a clerk at the Herbison’s Pharmacy in Spokane. She retired in 1984.

Survivors include two daughters, Fritzee Tesch of Spokane and Shirley Johnson of Great Falls, Mont.; three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
