Scouts From Troop 119 Earn Eagle Scout Awards

Four Boy Scouts from Troop 119, sponsored by the 19th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently received their Eagle Scout awards.

The boys, their Eagle projects, schools and parents are:

Nathan Petersen, 16, made a camping supply box and work tables for a girl’s camp. He attends Mead High School and is the son of Dana and B.J. Petersen.

Andrew Larson, 15, cleared a trail at Bear Lake. He’s a student at Mt. Spokane High School and is the son of Steve and Joanne Larson.

Keith Hopkins, 16, collected food for the Spokane Food Bank. He’s a student at Mead and the son of Jim and Robyn Hopkins.

Brady Smith, 15, cleared and redefined a trail on Mount Spokane. He’s a student at Mt. Spokane and the son of Steve and Debbie Smith.

Marine Sgt Michael Bennett, a 1993 graduate of Reardan (Wash.) High School, has been meritoriously promoted to his present rank. He is serving with the 5th Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He is the son of Michael and Diane Bennett of Spokane.

Harvey Kraft has been promoted to master sergeant with the Air Force. He is chief of personnel assigned to the 13th Space Warning Squadron of Clear Air Station in Anderson, Alaska. He is the son of Betty Kraft and Al Kraft, both of Spokane.

Army Lt. Col. David Rozell has assumed command of the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, at Fort Riley in Junction City, Kan.

Rozell’s military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Meritorious Service medals, four Commendation medals and the Army Achievement Medal.

He is the son of Paul and Marjorie Rozell, Spokane, and a 1978 graduate of Washington State University.
