Teen Murderer-Rapist To Appeal Sentence
The teenager who raped and killed a 12-year-old baby sitter will appeal his 62-year prison sentence.
A notice filed Friday in Snohomish County Superior Court indicated David Dodge will challenge the length of his sentence - but not his guilty plea.
Judge Ron Castleberry sentenced the 18-year-old Camano Island youth on Jan. 27 to an exceptional term, citing aggravating circumstances.
Dodge was 17 when he walked away from a state work-release job, broke into a Stanwood, Wash., home and raped and killed Ashley Jones as the girl was baby-sitting several children.
Dodge pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, second-degree rape and burglary.
