Bomb Squad Destroys Device Found In Field

From Staff And Wire Reports

Bomb experts destroyed a device that was discovered Sunday afternoon near a Hayden animal clinic.

A dog walking with its owner found the 2-inch-by-6-inch device in a field adjacent to the Prairie Animal Clinic about 2:30 p.m. The dog began playing with the device before its owner realized it could be a bomb.

The woman brought the box to the animal clinic receptionist, who called sheriff’s deputies. The two then moved the box into the clinic’s driveway while they waited for deputies to arrive.

Deputies examined the box, which was described as heavy, wrapped with duct tape and having a short blue fuse, before calling the Spokane County bomb squad. A bomb squad robot removed and destroyed the device.

Bomb squad members determined the homemade device was incendiary but not explosive.
