Man Shot, Killed In Northern Ireland
Gunmen fatally shot a man and wounded a woman Monday outside a candlelit bistro in normally peaceful south Belfast.
Police said one or more gunmen confronted the pair late Monday as they were getting into a car parked outside the Planks restaurant. Both ran down an alleyway but were caught from behind.
The man was dead on arrival at the nearby City Hospital, while the woman was treated for unspecified wounds to her back, a hospital spokeswoman said.
No paramilitary group claimed responsibility, although the nature of the attack indicated the fatal victim was specifically targeted rather than randomly chosen.
