Sheriff Warns About Silverton Burglaries

From Staff And Wire Reports

Shoshone County sheriff’s deputies warned Silverton residents Monday that a burglar may be working the area.

Victims of two residential burglaries that have been reported within the past week have lost belongings valued at thousands of dollars. In one break-in, thieves stole more than $6,000 worth of guns and hunting equipment, deputies said.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the thefts or who has seen suspicious vehicles near Maxwell and Yellowstone streets is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies also are urging anyone leaving town for an extended time to sign up with the Sheriff’s Department House Watch Program.
