Vehicles Vandalized; Damage Totals $2,700

From Staff And Wire Reports

Nearly $3,000 worth of damage was done to vehicles in several incidents of vandalism reported around Coeur d’Alene last weekend.

Twelve people complained to police that their car windows had been smashed, paint had been scratched or tires had been punctured.

Rocks had been used to damage five of the parked cars, according to police reports. Tires on five other cars had been punctured by what appeared to have been a knife.

Other vehicle owners reported mirrors and windshield wipers had been broken off. One man found scratches that ran the length of his car.

Police have not determined if the incidents are related.

Total damage to the vehicles was estimated at $2,716. Nothing appeared to be missing from any of the vehicles, police said.
