Cda Holds No. 4 Ranking In Latest Poll

Associated Press

The Highland Rams defeated crosstown rival Pocatello last week, and another loss by the Indians further solidified Highland’s ranking atop the weekly Associated Press Idaho high school basketball poll.

The Rams received nine of the 10 first place votes from the state’s sportswriters and broadcasters a week after splitting them evenly with then-No. 2 Pocatello. But the Indians’ 91-89 double-overtime loss to Blackfoot dropped them to 14-4 and into the fifth spot in the A-1 poll.

Skyline and Capital each improved to 15-3 with two victories and moved up two spots to second and third, respectively. Coeur d’Alene received the final first-place vote but was ranked fourth.

Once-beaten Emmett was a unanimous choice for the top A-2 team, holding onto its ranking with two victories last week.

Preston and Moscow were second and third, respectively.

Meanwhile, A-3 leader Declo remained the only unbeaten team in any division at 18-0.

Troy and Hagerman were first and second in the A-4 rankings. Lakeside remained third with three victories.
