Dollar Hits 3-Month Low Vs. Yen

The dollar fell to a three-month low against the Japanese yen in a broad decline during lackluster trading Tuesday, failing to get a lift out of Wall Street’s record-shattering rise.

The dollar slumped to 123.19 Japanese yen in late New York trading from 124.04 yen late Monday. The last time it was lower was Nov. 6. The dollar peaked at more than 134 yen on Jan. 6.

“The dollar was not able to sustain higher levels so it is testing bottom levels” of its latest range, said John Hazelton, chief dealer at Manufacturers & Traders Trust Co. in New York.
