Mcdonald’s Acquires Stake In Rival Chain
McDonald’s Corp. is making a run for the border.
Faced with stiff competition in the burgers-and-fries industry, the world’s largest fast-food company announced Tuesday it has taken a minority stake in a fast-growing Mexican fast-food chain.
The unspecified investment in World Foods Inc. gives McDonald’s a link to 14 Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants in the Denver area.
The new investment, expected to be completed soon, is the first time McDonald’s has teamed up with an outsider for a restaurant far removed from hamburgers.
