Travis Schofield scored 19 points as North Texas defeated Boise State. The loss by Boise State and New Mexico State’s one-point win over Idaho allowed New Mexico State to pull into a tie with the Broncos in the Eastern Division, a game behind the Vandals in the race for third place… . Paul Culbertson scored 16 points as Nevada defeated Utah State. The Wolf Pack moved within one game of leader Utah State in the Eastern Division. … Long Beach State grabbed sole possession of second place in the West Division with its win and losses by Cal Poly, UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara… . Michael Olowokandi had 24 points and Pacific’s 114 points matched its third-highest score in school history in a rout of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The victory clinched the Western Division title for the Tigers. Pacific also was awarded the Western Division top seed for the Big West tournament, March 6-8 in Reno, Nev.

Santa Clara’s loss at Pepperdine knocked the Broncos out of a first-place tie with Gonzaga, which defeated Portland. Gerald Brown scored 23 points and backcourt mate Jelani Gardner added 18 to lead Pepperdine. The Waves made 30 of 34 free throws. … Senior guard David Sivulich, playing his last home game, scored 16 of his game-high 22 points in the first half as Saint Mary’s defeated San Diego. Sivulich, the WCC’s leading scorer and the conference’s top 3-point shooter, helped the Gaels set the pace early. The Gaels hit five of their first six shots on their way to a 13-2 run as Sivulich scored eight of his first-half points. xxxx
