The U.S. soccer team, which has won a team record six straight games including a 1-0 semifinal upset of Brazil, faces Mexico in today’s CONCACAF Gold Cup championship game in Los Angeles.

The last time the United States and Mexico met for the Gold Cup title was on July 25, 1993. Mexico outclassed their Northern neighbors, rolling to a 4-0 victory before a crowd of 120,000 at Azteca Stadium.

Vala Flosadottir of Iceland broke Czech Daniela Bartova’s hours-old women’s world indoor pole vault record by a half-inch, clearing 14 feet, 6-3/4 inches during an international meet in Eskilstuna, Sweden.
