Ole Miss Wins At Kentucky

Keith Carter completed a four-point play late in the game, snuffing out a rally by No. 7 Kentucky and leading No. 18 Mississippi to a 73-64 victory Saturday, its first in Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky.

Besides winning in Rupp Arena for the first time in 20 games, Mississippi (17-5, 8-4 Southeastern Conference) also won for only the second time in 45 tries on Kentucky’s (22-4, 10-2) homecourt, the other victory coming in 1927.

In Chapel Hill, N.C., Antawn Jamison matched his career high with 36 points as the Tar Heels (26-1, 12-1 ACC) beat the Terrapins (15-8, 8-5).

In Durham, N.C., Trajan Langdon scored 18 points, all on 3-pointers, and the Blue Devils (23-2, 12-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) beat the Demon Deacons (12-11, 4-8).

In Manhattan, Kan., Raef LaFrentz scored 24 points and the Jayhawks (27-3, 11-1 Big 12) whipped the Wildcats (15-7, 6-6).

In Fort Collins, Colo., Andre Miller scored 16 points and Rick Majerus earned his 300th coaching victory as the Utes (21-2, 8-2 WAC) beat the Rams (19-5, 7-4).

In Hartford, Conn., Richard Hamilton scored 31 points as the Huskies (22-4, 11-3 Big East) beat the Panthers (8-13, 3-10).

In West Lafayette, Ind., Chad Austin scored 26 points and the Boilermakers (22-4, 10-2 Big Ten) overcame an early 15-point deficit to beat the Illini (18-8, 10-3).

In Knoxville, Tenn., freshman guard Tony Harris scored 21 points and the Volunteers (16-6, 6-6 SEC), who led by 24 points in the first half, beat the Razorbacks (20-5, 9-3).

In East Lansing, Mich., Mateen Cleaves had a school-record nine steals as the Spartans (18-5, 11-2 Big Ten) beat the Gophers (11-13, 4-9).

In Columbia, S.C., BJ McKie scored 20 points to lead the Gamecocks (19-4, 9-3 SEC) past the Bulldogs (14-11, 3-9).

In Dayton, Ohio, Edwin Young scored 18 points as the Flyers (9-3, 17-8 Atlantic 10 West) made 35 of 44 free throws to upset the Colonials (9-3, 20-5).
