Autopsy To Be Performed On Man Found At Bonnie Lake

Medical examiners will perform an autopsy today on a man found dead at a southern Spokane County lake.

A Washington State University student on a fishing trip discovered the body Saturday on the east bank of Bonnie Lake, south of Cheney, deputies said.

The victim apparently fell off a 300-foot cliff above the lake, deputies said. His body was found lying on some rocks about 30 feet above the high-water mark, near an island on the north end.

Investigators aren’t sure of the cause of death. They also don’t know how long the body had been there.

County Emergency Management personnel and volunteers used inflatable boats to retrieve the remains Sunday afternoon.
