Nic Workshops To Focus On Music, Writing

From Staff Reports

Two public programs sponsored by North Idaho College will be held on the next two Saturdays.

This Saturday, NIC music instructor Gerard Mathes will be host of a 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. music workshop in Boswell Hall. Participants will learn to recognize the difference between a lute and a flute and between Beethoven and Bach in a segment about orchestra music. A lunch will be included at noon, followed by a hands-on performance.

On Feb. 28, English instructor Dan Erlacher will discuss literature using the genre of the short story. Erlacher will read some short stories to show how characters are developed and plots unfold. After lunch, participants will tackle their own creations.

Each session is open to students, staff members and the community. The charge is $7 per session, including lunch.

Call 769-7806 to reserve a spot in the classes.
