Tekoa-Oakesdale Girls Avenge Losses To L-W, Capture Whitman’s Top Seed To District

The third-ranked Tekoa-Oakesdale Nighthawks finally managed to get a girls basketball win over the LaCrosse-Washtucna Tigercats.

The third time proved the charm for T-O (20-2) as it avenged two earlier loses to L-W (15-7) Monday with a 52-40 victory in the Whitman County League Tournament at Endicott.

The Nighthawks advance to the district tournament as the No. 1 seed and will play Asotin Friday at Walla Walla Community College at 1 p.m.; the second-seeded Tigercats will play Pomeroy at 6:30.

The Eagles advanced as the No. 1 seed from the Whitman County on the strength of their free-throw shooting.

St. John-Endicott (17-5) hit 30 of 47 attempts to defeat the Vikings (17-5) in the Whitman County Tournament in Endicott.

For the Vikings, it was the end of a 12-game losing streak.

The Eagles will face Asotin in the district tournament Friday at 8 p.m. at Walla Walla Community College. The Vikings are the No. 2 seed and play Pomeroy at 2:30.
