Body Discovered Saturday Identified

From Staff And Wire Reports

A body discovered Saturday by fishermen at Bonnie Lake has been identified as a Corvallis, Ore., man, Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies said.

David M. Bray, 36, most likely died from exposure after falling from a cliff above the lake, autopsy results show.

He suffered head trauma and broken ribs after tumbling between 200 to 300 feet from the cliff, investigators said. His body was found 30 feet above the lake’s high water mark, deputies said.

Bray was reported missing from Corvallis on Dec. 23 and is believed to have been dead at least a month before his body was discovered.

Deputies believe he might have survived had he been found immediately after the accident. But Bonnie Lake has no public access and is not heavily used in the winter.

Rescuers had to use inflatable boats and navigate up Rock Creek to enter the lake and remove the body, deputies said.
