Computer Sciences Spurns Hostile Bid
Computer Sciences on Thursday publicly rejected a $9.2 billion hostile takeover bid from Computer Associates, saying the offer was inadequate and that a combination could hurt its booming computer-services business.
But Computer Associates said it would press ahead with its unsolicited bid, which effectively bypasses the Computer Sciences board by taking the proposal directly to the company’s shareholders.
The unanimous rejection by Computer Sciences Corp.’s board late Wednesday was seen as formalizing the company’s previous suggestions that it had no interest in a takeover by Computer Associates International Inc.
