ALPINE SKIING/SNOWBOARDING

Red Mountain is hosting the Export ‘A’ Extreme Skiing Contest Feb. 24-28 for those who are very talented or very crazy. The contest is one of eight around the world leading up to the World Extreme Skiing Championship in Valdez, Alaska. The cost is $350 for those without a season lift ticket and $300 for those who do. Today is Radio Day at Silver Mountain. Get $12 ticket vouchers at Rosauer’s.

Glen Plake, the freestyle skier known for his daredevil tricks and dynamic skiing, will bring his Hot Dog Tour to The Summit at Snoqualmie Saturday and Sunday. Weekend festivities will include “Bump and Ballet” competitions, poster signings, video showings and a weenie roast. The registration fee is $15. Info - (617) 973-5035.

NORDIC SKIING

The Big Mountain resort in Whitefish, Mont., will host a 10k nordic race this Sunday at 10 a.m. followed by a downhill race on a NASTAR course. Info - (406) 862-1900.

If Montana’s too far away, Race of the Methow, another 10k cross country race, will take place in the Methow Valley Saturday. Info - (509) 996-3287.

SNOWSHOEING

Schweitzer Mountain is hosting the Tubbs Snowshoe Festival Saturday and Sunday from 9-2 p.m. The festival will include an obstacle course, nature hikes, a scavenger hunt, a poker run and a class on snowshoeing. It’s free.
