Wisconsin Court Unable To Stop Cda Tribe’s Gambling Operation

A U.S. District Court judge in Wisconsin ruled Thursday that the state court there has no jurisdiction to stop a long-distance Indian gambling enterprise.

So Wisconsin residents can play the Coeur d’Alene tribe’s US Lottery via telephone and the Internet. The attorney general of Wisconsin had sued to end access.

“The decision … was a clear victory,” said David Matheson, the chief executive officer for tribal gaming. The operation is based in Worley, Idaho.

Last week, a federal judge in Missouri also ruled in the tribe’s favor against that state’s attorney general. Matheson said he expects both Wisconsin and Missouri will appeal the decisions.
