Trustees Will Visit Top Two Nic Candidates Presidential Prospects Ranked, But Board Won’t Reveal Names

North Idaho College trustees plan to visit the campuses of the top two candidates for the presidential post.

But they’re not saying who or where.

In an executive session meeting Tuesday, the board reviewed campus input about the four remaining finalists and found consensus for the top two choices.

Students, faculty, staff, and managers were asked to rank the presidential candidates during their visits to Coeur d’Alene this month.

Board Chairman Bill Nixon, board member Sheila Wood and NIC spokeswoman Erna Rhinehart will make the campus site visits to the two top candidates’ campuses March 19 and 20.

By law, the trustees may deliberate the hiring of a new president behind closed doors, but they are not allowed to take any final action.

“These campus visitations are scheduled during March and the board will plan later visits to other campuses if needed,” wrote Interim President Ron Bell, in a summary of the meeting.

Bell helped compile the candidate survey data Tuesday and wrote the memo on behalf of Nixon.

In addition, the board said selection of the new president will be delayed to March 25 due to site-visit scheduling.
