Longtime House Leader, Koch, Dies

Henry Ferdinand “Ferd” Koch, a former majority leader of the Idaho House of Representatives, died Wednesday in Boise. He was 84.

Koch served in the House from 1963 through 1974 and was majority leader in 1972 and 1973. He also served nine years on the Boise City Council and 19 years on the Boise Airport Commission.

Koch operated an electrical contracting business in Boise for many years, and he and his wife helped found what now is the Association for Retarded Citizens of Idaho.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, a brother, five children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
