National Parks

The National Park Service has a new reservation system for its most popular campgrounds. Starting March 15, travelers can reserve campsites at 25 parks by calling toll-free numbers.

The new numbers, maintained by Biospherics of Beltsville, Md., are:

For Acadia in Maine, Assateague in Maryland and Virginia, Cape Hatteras in North Carolina, Channel Islands in California, Chickasaw in Oklahoma, Death Valley in California, Everglades in Florida, Glacier in Montana, Grand Canyon in Arizona, Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina, Greenbelt in Maryland, Gulf Islands in Florida, Joshua Tree in California, Katmai in Alaska, Mount Rainier in Washington, Rocky Mountain in Colorado, Sequoia-Kings Canyon in California, Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan, Shenandoah in Virginia, Whiskeytown in California and Zion in Utah: (800) 365-2267.

For Yosemite, California: (800) 436-7275.

Yellowstone reservations are not affected; Amfac handles them at (307) 344-7311.
