Wilson Wins State Boys Swimming Championship

Evan Martinec posted two individual victories to lead Wilson to the team title at the state Class 4A boys high school swimming and diving championships Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center.

Martinec, a sophomore, won the 100-yard butterfly in 50.23 seconds and claimed the 100 backstroke in 50.31 seconds. Both efforts earned automatic All-America recognition.

Wilson won the team crown by defeating runner-up Federal Way 211-159. Curtis was third with 150, followed by Rogers of Puyallup with 140.

Federal Way produced two individual winners.

Rogers’ David Pruitt won the 100 free in 47.74 seconds.
