A University of Oklahoma journalism student accused of stalking Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller has returned to Connecticut and plans to withdraw from classes, his lawyer says.

Joseph Whitney Vogt, 25, was charged Monday with a misdemeanor. He was arrested on campus and released on $2,000 bond.

The total purse for the Breeders’ Cup Distaff has been doubled to $2 million. The Distaff, contested at 1 miles for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up, is one of seven Breeders’ Cup championship races. The total purse for the championships will now be $12 million.

Richard Burns, 40, a Little League coach, was acquitted of charges he pushed a teenage umpire into a fence after a raucous baseball game two years ago in Millford, Conn. A six-member Superior Court jury deliberated 3 hours before clearing the coach of a misdemeanor count of breach of peace.
