Cross-Country Trails Will Be Free On Jan. 10

From Staff And Wire Reports

Idaho’s groomed cross-country ski trails will be open for free use on Jan. 10 to promote the sport of nordic skiing.

The 11th annual Cross Country Idaho is sponsored by the Idaho Department of parks and Recreation to give non-skiers the opportunity to try out the sport.

If weather and snow conditions permit, 22 sites will participate around the state. Some sites will offer lessons and free or reduced ski rentals.

Six sites are participating in North Idaho: 4th of July Pass Park N’ Ski, Farragut State Park, Palouse Divide Park N’ Ski, Round Lake State Park, Snow Creek Park N’ Ski and Priest Lake State Park.

Farragut State Park plans to offer free beginner lessons, refreshments, games and ski video showings. Park staff will also guide a moonlit ski tour at 7 p.m. from the visitor center. Call (208) 683-2425 for more information.

Priest Lake State Park also plans free beginner ski lessons, if the weather permits. Call (208) 443-2200 for information. All other sites are offering free skiing.
