Lc Senior Posts 800 In Part Of Sat Greg Johnson Wants To Pursue College Studies At Dartmouth Or UW

Amy Scribner Staff writer

Add Lewis and Clark High School senior Greg Johnson to the list of the city’s brightest young minds.

The 17-year-old managed an 800 on the verbal section of the Scholastic Aptitude Test and a math score of 740 when he took the test last March.

Combine that with a 3.95 grade-point average, and Johnson stands a pretty fair chance of getting into any college of his choice. Dartmouth College and the University of Washington are at the top of his list, he said.

“I’ll probably do the liberal arts thing,” he said. “I don’t really know what I want to do when I grow up.”

He said he’s toying with the possibilities of teaching or ministering. He’s involved with his church youth group.

Johnson is a member of his school’s math team and president of the LC chapter of the National Honor Society. He has played viola for eight years.

Johnson also tutors elementary students at the Libby Homework Center.

When he carves out an hour or two of spare time, Johnson likes to play Frisbee and swing dance. He has also recently taken up Thai cooking.

All that still leaves time for school spirit; Johnson will dust off some vintage polyester duds next month, when he’ll perform as a “cheerleader” during the annual Rubber Chicken rivalry between LC and Ferris.
