Ferris Wins 16-Team Wrestling Event

A quintet of third-place finishes powered Ferris to the championship of the 16-team Pacific Northwest Classic wrestling meet at University Saturday.

Zack Moffat at 148 pounds and Chad Cluever (190) placed second for the Saxons, who scored 188 points. Ferris piled up big points with consolation-bracket wins by Jack Claros (101), Ryan Ellis (122), Tyson Devin (158), Ty Williams (178) and Aaron Sedler (215).

Second-place Lakeside totaled 171 with a meet-best four champions, plus two runnersup. Tim Weisser (122), Jason Christen (141), Matt Westenfelder (168) and Sean Wheeler (178) won individual titles for the Eagles from Nine Mile Falls.

Third-place Gonzaga Prep scored 170, with championships from Chris Montgomery at 115 and Nick Bliss at 158.

The host Titans were fifth, with runners-up at 101, 215 and 275.
