Train Car Derails, Blocks Highway 41

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Union Pacific railroad car carrying a load of lumber derailed when two wheels ran off the track near here early Saturday.

It took from 3 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. to get the car back on the tracks, Union Pacific Western Region spokesman Mike Furtney said Saturday.

The train was carrying lumber on Union Pacific’s main line from Canada to Hinkle, Ore., when the accident occurred, Furtney said.

There were no injuries. The cause of the derailment was not immediately determined.

Traffic on Highway 41 was blocked for more than five hours, the Idaho State Police department said.
