Crown Pacific Closes Alliance Acquisition

Crown Pacific Partners, L.P. has completed its acquisition of Alliance Wholesale Lumber Co. of Phoenix.

Alliance, established in 1984, operates three contractor service yards in the Phoenix area and employs about 140 people. Crown Pacific acquired the wholesaler to provide mill-to-jobsite delivery of its dimensional lumber products in the fast-growing Arizona construction market, said Jim Weeks, vice president of marketing and sales.

Crown Pacific, which operates five mills producing 400 million board feet per year out of Washington, Idaho and Oregon, made its first acquisition of a lumber wholesaler in 1996. That business grew to represent 28 percent of company revenues for the first nine months of 1997.
