Dollar Rallies Against Yen

The dollar rallied to a 5-1/2-year high against the Japanese yen and surged to record levels against other Asian currencies on Monday as the Asian economic crisis continued to spook investors.

The U.S. currency also vaulted to a four-month high against the German mark amid speculation that Germany would not recover soon from its financial troubles.
