Tacoma Harbor Oil Spill Cleanup Continues

Cleanup continued Monday on an oil spill around a Russian freighter at the Port of Tacoma.

Since the New Year’s Day spill was reported, 1,000 gallons of oil have been recovered - plus 2,300 gallons of oil and water combined.

Wildlife agents have found half a dozen oil-covered birds.

The state Ecology Department and other agencies are overseeing the work. Costs will be paid by the FESCO shipping company.
