Calling All 1970s Icons, Tarantino Wants You

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Perhaps you know the name: Robert Forster. Maybe you’ve seen his 1970s television show “Bannon,” or some of his movies - “Reflections in a Golden Eye,” “Delta Force,” “Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence.”

Whatever, you haven’t heard or seen much of him lately until Quentin Tarantino hired him to play the role of Max Cherry, a middle-age bail-bondsman in the film “Jackie Brown.”

It was the kind of break for which fading stars say prayers. Forster, who had been considered for a role in “Reservoir Dogs,” was particularly glad to play a good guy for once.

“I’ve played every rotten mean guy in the world,” he told the San Jose Mercury News. “I played Khaddafi one time, Noriega one time. I was a terrible guy. I told Quentin my kids were killing me for it.”

They’ll find cuddle time between commercials

Saturday’s marriage between “CBS This Morning” co-host Jane Robelot, 37, and CBS cameraman Mario De Carvalho, 47, won’t be followed by much of a honeymoon. Within a week, the duo will be in Cuba to cover the Pope’s forthcoming visit. But they plan on starting a family right away. “God willing, we’ll conceive our first in Cuba,” said Robelot, who wants “lots and lots” of kids, but will “settle” for four.

No, those kinds of roles are perfect for Salma Hayek

So what kinds of movies roles is Latina Daisy Fuentes seeking? “It would have to be something that I feel comfortable with,” says the ex-MTV star, now co-host (with John Fugelsang) of “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” “I don’t want to be the Mexican maid who gets brought from Mexico to teach the 18-year-old kid in the house how to have sex.”

In years to come, she’ll be the butt of a few jokes

Celebrity tattoo update: Emma Bunton, better known as Baby Spice of Spice Girls fame, doesn’t have to worry about contracting amnesia. The New York Post reports that she just had the words “BABY” and “SPICE” tattooed on her respective buttocks.

And tell him to start CPR immediately

People magazine online reports that Scott Baio’s is definitely not dead. The former “Charles in Charge” star even changed his answering machine message to say, “This is Scott Baio. I have passed away. But if this is a call regarding work, please call my agent immediately.”

That amounts to 1.9 stories per day - hey, we beat that!

The late Princess Diana was the subject of 696 stories on syndicated and network shows in 1997, the industry newsletter Video Information Show Report reported Monday. Some 80 different stories involved the paparazzi’s involvement in Diana’s life and death.
