Credit Card Firms Give Idaho Top Marks

From Staff And Wire Reports

Idaho has earned the top ranking among all U.S. states in “qualities that attract financial service providers,” according to a study commissioned from DRI McGraw-Hill by MasterCard International.

Executives from several major credit card companies ranked states in four key categories: Economic and regulatory environments, legal climate and quality of life.

In the survey, credit card companies listed a friendly legal environment as the most important attraction for the payment industry. Idaho Department of Finance Director Gavin Gee cited the state’s favorable consumer credit code and absence of a usury law as key attractions for financial service providers.

Idaho Department of Commerce Director Thomas A. Arnold also credited Idaho’s healthy economy, strong pro-business stance and telecommunications network as features that led to the top ranking.
