Fuhrman Co-Hosts Crime Show

Mark Fuhrman, famous for his role in the O.J. Simpson trials, has been hired for a regular weekly slot on a KXLY-AM talk show.

Fuhrman shares the microphone with the show’s host, Mike Fitzsimmons, every Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.

“It’s a weekly feature on crime,” station manager Brian Paul said. “We figured his expertise in that area is good.”

Fuhrman is the former Los Angeles police detective whose perjured testimony about his use of racial slurs undermined the prosecution in the Simpson murder trial.

During his first show Thursday, Fuhrman and Fitzsimmons discussed the serial killings of prostitutes in the Spokane area.

Fuhrman described some of the body drop sites, which he and Fitzsimmons had visited earlier that day. He also discussed the profiling of suspects; and he explained how an investigation of this kind usually proceeds. He said he made a commitment not to speculate on anything that could compromise the case.

“I would give a digit off of my right hand to be one of the detectives on this case,” Fuhrman said.

He also took calls from listeners.

“I want to tell Mark Fuhrman that I personally have a lot of respect for him, especially after reading ‘Murder in Brentwood’ (Fuhrman’s book),” one caller said. “And I appreciate everything he did in that trial.”

“Thank you very much,” Fuhrman said. “That means a lot when people say that to me.”

Fuhrman, who lives in Sandpoint, will drive to KXLY’s Spokane studios for the show every week, Paul said.
