Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I recently came up with an idea while trying to put the hanging device on the back of a frame.

Because the nail was so small, I wasn’t able to hold onto it while hammering. So, I punched the nail through a stiff piece of paper, such as an index card, and held onto the paper while hammering the nail into place. Once the nail was well established in the wood, I just gently tore the paper off and easily finished hammering the nail in.

It worked well and was a great timesaver. - Sheri Morgan, Rocklin, Calif.

Dear Heloise: I use a pizza cutter to cut warm brownies or any bar cookies. It is especially helpful when there are chocolate chunks, which are hard to cut through when cool. - Jean Fekety, Richardson, Texas
