Kitty Hawk Bound For Overhaul

Associated Press

The USS Kitty Hawk is scheduled to arrive next week at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard here for a $52.5 million overhaul.

The 1,065-foot aircraft carrier will be drydocked at PSNS beginning Tuesday for major refurbishment work below the waterline.

The job will provide work for about 1,000 shipyard employees over the next three months.

The Kitty Hawk is the first of two carriers scheduled for drydocking this year at PSNS.

The second, the USS Constellation, is due to arrive in May and depart in August or September.
