Princeton Cruises To 12th Victory

Gabe Lewullis scored 18 points and No. 15 Princeton held off Yale for a 69-58 win in their Ivy League opener Friday night in New Haven, Conn.

The Tigers (12-1, 1-0) had a 39-26 lead at halftime, but were held scoreless for the first 4 minutes of the second period as Yale (4-8, 0-1) closed to within three points.

The Bulldogs were led by the 18 points of David Tompkins.

Princeton is coming off its best non-league start in 31 years.

Weber St. 69, Idaho St. 60

At Pocatello, Idaho, Mark Lawson scored 19 points to lead the Wildcats (4-9, 2-1) to a Big Sky Conference win over the Bengals (1-10, 0-4).

Tywan Meadows scored 27 points, hitting 5 of 7 shots from 3-point range, to lead Idaho State.

N. Arizona 73, Montana 60

At Flagstaff, Ariz., Ross Land scored a game-high 17 points to spark the Lumberjacks (8-5, 2-1) to a Big Sky Conference victory over the Grizzlies (8-8, 1-2).

The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the first half and never looked back.

Cory Riser led Montana with 13 points.

Pepperdine 72, Portland 47

At Malibu, Calif., Jelani Gardner scored 17 points and three other Pepperdine players scored in double figures as the Waves (9-4, 1-0) sailed to a West Coast Conference victory over the Pilots (7-6, 0-1).
