Nc Freshman Gets A Second At Invite

North Central freshman gymnast Amber Baines placed second on the balance beam and tied for fourth in the floor exercise at Saturday’s Port Angeles Invitational.

Baines’ score of 9.3 on the beam trailed the 9.4 of Puyallup’s Stephanie Roy. Baines scored a 9.0 in the floor exercise.

The invitational included Top 10 teams from Central Valley, Sehome, Auburn, Puyallup and Kentwood.

CV’s Emily Roberts was third on the beam (8.8) and tied for fifth on the uneven bars (8.05).

Other area placers: Heidi McCullough, NC, third, bars, 8.3; Marki Stewart, Mead, seventh, vault, 8.3; Lindsay Linerud, CV, seventh, floor, 8.95; Lacey Varney, CV, 10th, bars, 7.65; and Melissa Alderman, CV, 10th, floor, 8.8.
