Pacificorp To Close Glenrock Coal Mine
PacifiCorp announced Monday that it will cut 600 jobs and close its Glenrock coal mine in Wyoming as it takes $214 million in pretax charges for the fourth quarter.
The closure and job reductions are due to efforts to remain competitive as deregulation sweeps through the utility industry, said Fred Buckman, president and chief executive.
The Portland-based utility plans to complete the job cuts by midyear.
