Robinson, Usc Named In Lawsuit

Former Southern California football coach John Robinson is being accused of sexual harassment by his former administrative assistant in a lawsuit.

Norma Navarro, who was Robinson’s secretary for 2-1/2 years before being fired in March, is seeking unspecified damages against the university, Robinson and associate athletic director Steve Lopes.

The lawsuit alleges sexual harassment by Robinson and sexual discrimination by the university. Lopes is named because he signed off on Navarro’s dismissal.

“I am denying the charges,” Robinson told The Associated Press on Monday. “The university has asked me to let them handle it.”

Navarro claims that she was not paid the same salary as a male co-worker and did not receive a promotion because she spurned Robinson’s alleged advances.

Northern Arizona hired as its quarterbacks coach Don Read, who led Montana to the NCAA Division I-AA national championship in 1995.

Read retired in April 1996 after compiling an 85-36 overall record in 10 seasons at Montana.

New Northern Arizona head coach Jerome Souers was a defensive coordinator for Read at Montana.
