Teens Plead Guilty To Taxi Driver’s Shooting

Two teenagers have pleaded guilty to murder charges in the shotgun slaying of a taxicab driver more than a year ago.

Madreone Lashea Kinsey, 19, and Germaine Henderson, 16, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the Dec. 17, 1996, slaying of Kashmir Singh, 38, a Farwest Taxi driver. Each faces 32 to 39 years in prison when sentenced Feb. 20.

Latasha Garrett, 16, pleaded guilty to rendering criminal assistance in the killing. She faces more than three years in prison at sentencing, set for Feb. 13.

All three were charged as adults.

Singh was shot in the back of the head with a sawed-off rifle. He remained on life support for a week until his wife arrived from India, and life support systems were removed.
